Spring! Of Baseball and Seders
39 more days and counting until Erev Pesach! (Friday April 19, 2019 is the night of the first Seder)
The wild and windy winter is almost behind us and now we can start thinking and dreaming about spring in all its glory! To me, spring means two things- baseball and Pesach.
My two favourite hallmarks of spring intersect at times.
When you have time, check out this very unusual Baseball Haggadah http://www.thebaseballhaggadah.com/peek-inside.shtml
A great story for kids: Matzah Ball: A Passover Story by Mindy Avra Portnoy (Author), Katherine Janus Kahn (Illustrator)
An interesting read about baseball and Jewish ballplayers: Matzoh Balls and Baseballs Paperback – Jun 25 2010 by Dave Cohen (Author), Steve Greenberg (Foreword), Steven LeBow (Preface)
But I digress. As I mentioned in past posts, it’s never too early to prepare for Pesach and this year is no different. If it is your first time hosting a Seder, take a look at this checklist as a means to get yourself organized. Found at reformjudaism.org
If you know someone who would like to host and needs to start from scratch, consider sending them a JewJu Box Seder Box: It has everything one needs to hold a Seder (except all the glorious food!). Please note: We do include a recipe for Matzah for those who do not have easy access to a store that supplies Matzah.
So, let the countdown begin!
